Prisoner dies after shooting at Tbilisi psychiatric clinic
Guram Svanidze, a prisoner from the Gldani Prison (in Tbilisi), who was wounded during a shootout at a psychiatric clinic, has died from his wounds at hospital.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 20, Guram Svanidze was seriously wounded in a shootout that broke out in the clinic. Investigators accused a sentry of negligence. Svanidze's relatives have demanded a fair inquiry into the incident.
According to the "News-Georgia", Svanidze was wounded in the head, underwent surgery and was on artificial respiration for several days; however, doctors failed to save him.
Let us remind you that according to investigators, the sentry with his weapons moved along the clinic level, where inmates with various mental illnesses were kept, by ignoring safety precautions. The sentry didn't notice Svanidze, who went out into the corridor and crept up to the sentry. The inmate snatched the service firearm from the sentry, and attempting to commit suicide, fired three shots and wounded himself in the head.
