Georgian Ministry For Public Health allows foreign doctors visiting Saakashvili

Today, one of the foreign doctors admitted by the Georgian Ministry for Public Health to examine former President Mikhail Saakashvili has arrived at a Tbilisi clinic. He and his colleagues should examine whether the former Georgian President is seriously ill and whether his illness prevents him from serving his sentence, a politician’s advocate reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that doctors from the US and Switzerland should join the examination of Mikhail Saakashvili, his advocate reported on August 10.

US medical expert Eric Goldsmith has already arrived at the “Vivamed” clinic, where former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili stays. The clinic will also be visited by two more US specialists, an expert from Switzerland and a UN representative, the “InterPressNews” reports today with reference to Mikhail Saakashvili’s advocate Shalva Khachapuridze.

Meanwhile, the Ministry for Public Health of Georgia has so far let only two foreign medical experts to visit Mikhail Saakashvili, the “InterPressNews” reports.

Medical experts will stay in Georgia “at least three days,” and they should answer “two main questions:” whether Mikhail Saakashvili is seriously ill and whether that fact prevents him from serving his sentence, Shalva Khachapuridze has told the journalists.
