Kadyrov supports reconciliation of Tamaev and Dibirov amid his threats to athletes

The leader of Chechnya stated that after the intervention of Aina Gamzatova, a spouse of the Mufti of Dagestan, the conflict between athletes-bloggers Askhab Tamaev from Chechnya and Dibir Makhmudov from Dagestan was settled. The Ramzan Kadyrov’s call for reconciliation came after his threats against Chechen athletes who behave inappropriately outside the republic.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 26, Ramzan Kadyrov called on the athletes from Chechnya who compete outside the republic to comply with the Chechen rules. The leader of Chechnya also instructed Chechen Minister for Physical Culture and Sports Valid Edilov to take the situation “under full control.”

Aina Gamzatova, the spouse of the Mufti of Dagestan, addressed a conciliatory speech to Chechen athlete-blogger Askhab Tamaev and Dagestani athlete-blogger Dibir Makhmudov after their conflict in Makhachkala. During the conflict, Dibir Makhmudov hit Askhab Tamaev for blocking his exit from a parking lot. The spouse of the Mufti of Dagestan noted that both young people behaved incorrectly and called on the athletes-bloggers to “forgive each other for the sake of the Almighty.” “Since ancient times in the Caucasus, a woman’s handkerchief, thrown between two men, even fighting to the death, could stop the bloodshed. I hope that the spirit of real natives of the Caucasus is present in both of you,” said Aina Gamzatova as quoted by the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft) on August 28.

After the intervention of Aina Gamzatova, Ramzan Kadyrov called the conflict between the Dagestani and Chechen athletes settled. “I declare with all responsibility that after the appeal of Aina Zairbekovna, the conflict can be considered completely settled. The Chechen and Dagestani peoples have always sacredly honoured the traditions of their ancestors,” the leader of Chechnya emphasized.
