Social media users call on Muftiate of Dagestan to respond to ban on “Sakhikh al-Bukhari”*
The Mufti of Chechnya supported the Ramzan Kadyrov’s demand to reconsider the decision of a court to include “Sakhikh al-Bukhari*, a collection of sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, into the list of extremist materials. Users of the “VKontakte” social media outlet called on the Muftiate of Dagestan to voice their position as well.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 31, Ramzan Kadyrov demanded to reconsider the decision to include “Sakhikh al-Bukhari”*, a collection of sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, in the list of extremist materials.
Mufti of Chechnya Salakh Mezhiev, on behalf of the republic’s Muslims, also criticized the court’s decision. “This book may not be included in the list of extremist books, because this book is the most reliable source of the hadiths of the prophet. We believe that the court that made such a decision is incompetent ... How can a judge make such a mistake and include the second book after the Koran in the list of extremist materials? This is unacceptable,” emphasized Mufti of Chechnya Salakh Mezhiev as quoted today by the “Chechnya Segodnya” (Chechnya Today) news agency.
Today, the public account “Voice of Dagestan” has posted a message about the reaction of Ramzan Kadyrov and Salakh Mezhiev to the court’s decision.
In their comments, some social media users called on the Muftiate of Dagestan to respond as well to the court’s decision. “It is very interesting why our Muftiate keeps silence, as this is a very important issue for Muslims?” wrote, in particular, user Murad Iskantiev.
*The collection was recognized as extremist and included in the federal list of materials prohibited for distribution.
