Kremlin reacts to Kadyrov's words about his possible resignation

The Kremlin is aware of Ramzan Kadyrov's statement about his possible resignation from the post of the head of Chechnya, but it has not materialized yet, said Dmitry Peskov, the presidential press secretary.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 3, Kadyrov announced that he had "stayed too long" as the head of Chechnya and was ready to resign. Kadyrov is being considered as a contender for some leading post in the "Rosgvardiya" (Russian National Guard), a source said.

Let us remind you that on February 15, 2007, Kadyrov was appointed acting president of Chechnya, and in March he officially became president. In 2010, the president of Chechnya began to be called the head. Kadyrov explained this by saying that "in a single state there should be only one president." In March 2011, the Chechen parliament voted for reappointing Ramzan as the head of Chechnya for another five years.

This is not the first time that Kadyrov has voiced his readiness to resign. Thus, in November 2017, he announced that he was ready to leave the post, because "the time has come." Kadyrov "outgrew" the status of the head of Chechnya, but the issue of his future career is within the competence of the President of Russia, analysts have explained.
