Rights defenders start fundraising for journalist Alexander Nozdrinov accused of discrediting army

The project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" has begun raising funds for the journalist and blogger, Alexander Nozdrinov, who is accused of spreading fakes about the Russian Army.

In April this year, a Krasnodar court dismissed a complaint against Nozdrinov's arrest on charges of discrediting the Russian Army, which threatens him with up to 10 years in prison. Olesya Panyuzhina, his advocate, intends to seek mitigation of his punishment.

According to the Telegram channel of the above project, 65,000 roubles being raised by human rights defenders are needed to pay for the expertise on the case and help Nozdrinov's family – he has three minor children.

On May 31, the above project announced Nozdrinov to be a political prisoner and demanded his release.

Besides, human rights defenders believe that an additional motive for prosecuting Nozdrinov "was the desire of Krasnodar law enforcers to put an end to the blogger's investigations into their abuses and to take revenge on him for criticizing them on the Telegram channel and the YouTube."
