Law enforcers search Volgograd activist's friends

The home of doctors from Volgograd, Angelina Neroznik and her husband Sergey was searched; after interrogation they were released after taking a non-disclosure obligation from them. Evgeny Kochegin, an activist, accused of spreading fake news about the Russian Army, has suggested that the Neroznik family was searched because the spouses are his friends.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May, the court ruled to arrest Evgeny Kochegin in absentia, finding him guilty of spreading deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian Army. Kochegin has been put on the wanted list; he himself believes that the criminal case against him was a revenge for his social and political activities.

Evgeny Kochegin is a former coordinator of the Volgograd office of the opposition leader Alexei Navalny*. The office stopped working even before the court's ruling that recognized all the Navalny's* offices to be extremist organizations.

On September 9, in Volgograd, law enforcers came to conduct a search to the doctor Angelina Neroznik and her husband Sergey, a paediatrician, who had known Kochegin, the human rights project "OVD-Info"** has reported.

"They put them face down on the floor and threatened, despite the fact that they voluntarily opened the door. They took away the equipment from the family," Kochegin wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to his version, after the search, his friends were interrogated. He associates their persecution with the case against himself. "The only reason for pressure on them is that they are my friends with whom we went on picnics," Evgeny has stressed.
