Working group on the case of arrested journalist of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper founded in Azerbaijan

Today, the first sitting was held of the working group on the case of Mushfig Guseinov, journalist of the "Bizim Yol" (Our Way) newspaper, arrested in Azerbaijan. The group comprises representatives of a number of human rights and journalists' organizations of Azerbaijan. Bahaddin Khasiev, editor-in-chief of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper, informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the meeting discussed the violations in the course of investigation of the journalist's case and proposals on holding an independent investigation thereof.

He said that after Mushfig Guseinov's arrest the pressure on the newspaper has strengthened, and currently all the financial documentation of the newspaper is in fact arrested by inspectors under a court decision. Besides, all the employees of the newspaper are summoned to the prosecutor's office one by one and interrogated there.
