Damage to banners in Rostov Region turns into criminal cases

Law enforcement bodies have opened criminal cases on discrediting the army after damaging banners with portraits of participants in the special operation in Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don and Novocherkassk.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, it became known that in Rostov-on-Don, unidentified persons poured paint over a banner with a portrait of Azamat Nurkatov, a military policeman, who was awarded a medal for taking part in the military operation in Ukraine. The next day, the head of Novocherkassk reported about the damage in the city of two banners with portraits of participants in the special operation. He promised a reward to those who have information about those involved in damaging the banners.

In connection with the damage caused to a poster with a portrait of Azamat Nurkatov in Rostov-on-Don, a criminal case was initiated under the article of "public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" (Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the "Donnews.ru" reported on September 19 with reference to the press service of the Rostov regional branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Criminal cases under this article have also been initiated in connection with the damage caused to two posters in Novocherkassk, the "Kommersant" has informed.

Let us note here that the maximum penalty under this article is five years in jail.
