In Vienna, picketers demand to protect rights of Chechen native Amina Gerikhanova
In the Austrian capital, members of the Chechen Diaspora held a picket in support of Amina Gerikhanova and called on the Romanian authorities not to deport her to Russia.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 8, the “Vaiyond” Chechen human rights association based in Sweden reported that the Romanian police did not let Amina Gerikhanova, a native of Chechnya, stay at large after being released from custody and sent her to a migration prison. On September 22, Amina Gerikhanova complained about the threats from the Romanian police that “she would inevitably face a road to Russia.”
The protest action took place in front of the office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
“We want to get a reaction, including from the OSCE Human rights violations are often being discussed there. We want them to influence the Romanian authorities and prevent the deportation of Amina Gerikhanova to Russia,” said Roza Dunaeva, a picket participant, as quoted by the “Kavkaz.Realities”*.
Let us remind you that on March 13, 36-year-old Amina Gerikhanova was detained together with her child at the Romanian border when she was trying to leave Ukraine. Amina Gerikhanova is wanted by Interpol at the request of Russia, where she is accused of participating in the hostilities in Syria.
Earlier, members of the Chechen Diaspora held a protest action in front of the Romanian consulate in Edinburgh, urging the authorities of the European Union (EU) not to extradite Amina Gerikhanova to Russia.
