Chechen officials Alaudinov and Daudov get under Polish sanctions

Apti Alaudinov, an assistant to the head of Chechnya, and Magomed Daudov, the Chairman (Speaker) of the Chechen Parliament, have been announced as undesirable persons in Poland because of their links with those who support the Russia's military operation in Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 3, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the "Akhmat" Special Troops, after leaving the post of the secretary of the Security Council of Chechnya, was awarded the rank of major general and became deputy commander for combat operations of the army corps of the People's Militia of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), while retaining his position of an assistant to the head of Chechnya. Analysts have treated the Alaudinov's new appointment as an element of Kadyrov's strategy intended at expanding his influence with the help of his loyal person.

According to the RIA "Novosti", Poland has justified the imposition of sanctions on Alaudinov by his "direct links" with the persons who have means that are used to support Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Alaudinov has been under British sanctions since 2020, but still was not in the sanction list of the European Union (EU).

Magomed Daudov, a former Chechen militant who has received the title of "Hero of Russia", the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament under Kadyrov, is now also under Polish sanctions.

In his interview with the NTS TV Channel, Apti Alaudinov, after stating that the first stage of the victory in the military operation is "hoisting flags in Kyiv," said that "Warsaw and the entire NATO bloc deserve the same."

In December 2014, Alaudinov and Daudov were put on the Magnitsky List, the US law imposing sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations, adopted in December 2012.
