Journalist Sevrinovsky achieves cancellation of decision on his arrest in Makhachkala
In Makhachkala, a court found no offense in the actions of journalist Vladimir Sevrinovsky, who arrived in September to cover protests against mobilization.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 30, Vladimir Sevrinovsky was taken to the police department of Makhachkala. The court arrested him for five days. According to the journalist’s version, he was detained with the use of force, and the police ignored the information that he had come with a journalistic assignment to cover the rallies. In November, the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan sent Vladimir Sevrinovsky’s case back for reconsideration.
According to the journalist, policemen asked him to show his passport when he was walking down the street. After Vladimir Sevrinovsky showed his passport, he was requested to go to the police department to “answer a couple of questions.” However, when the journalist asked about the grounds for his detention, the policemen forced into their car, and his trousers were torn. The journalist noted that the report on an administrative offense, according to which he used foul language in a public place, was drawn up “based on perjury.”
On September 25 and 26, large-scale protest actions against the mobilization took place in Makhachkala, and they ended in mass detentions. Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the “Novoye Delo” (New Clause), and Sergey Einbinder, the editor-in-chief of the “RusNews”, who came to cover the protest action, were also detained. Sergey Einbinder reported that he was beaten and his equipment was broken.
