Dagestani villagers rally to discuss gas supply problems
In the village of Avadan, Dokuzparin District, local residents tried to block the highway, demanding to solve their problem with gas supply. Heating boilers turn off because of low pressure in the gas system; the problem affects different villages of Dagestan, Telegram users have informed.
On January 9, in Avadan, several hundred villagers went out to a meeting, at which they complained about absence of gas and insufficient pressure in the system, the "Chernovik" outlet has written. Local residents planned to block the federal highway, but law enforcers stopped them. Then, locals moved to the centre of the village.
The Telegram channel "SoVest Dagestana" (Dagestan's Conscience) reports on low gas pressure in many dwelling settlements of Dagestan. "Low air temperature and gas workers' unprofessionalism have caused low gas pressure throughout Dagestan," the channel has stated.
The Telegram channel "What's with Dagestanis?" writes that local residents in the "Karaman-2" dwelling settlement are freezing, since boilers switch off due to low gas pressure. Users said that a similar problem is in other republic's settlements.
On December 23, 2022, residents of the "Bammat" micro-district blocked traffic on the Makhachkala-Astrakhan highway due to a three-day electricity outage due to an accident. Authorities promised to resume power supply, after which they unblocked the highway.
Earlier, Dagestani residents complained about long power outages and gas cuts. Thus, on August 17, 2022, daily power outages forced Makhachkala residents to block the street. The supplying company explained the outages by the abnormally warm weather and equipment overheating. The dilapidated state of power grids, like problems in other spheres, has to do with officials' poor work, republic's residents have indicated in the "VKontakte" social network.
