CTO in Petrovsky Khutor comes as a surprise to residents of Stavropol Territory

Petrovsky Khutor, where a counterterrorist operation took place, is no different in terms of its ethnic composition, and local residents are mainly engaged in agriculture, analysts emphasize. According to them, the counterterrorist operation in Petrovsky Khutor went unnoticed by most residents of the Stavropol Territory.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on February 8, a legal regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced at Petrovsky Khutor in the Stavropol Territory. Law enforcers reported about four killed militants. It is alleged that the killed suspects were planning a terror act on the railway by an order of a Ukrainian armed grouping. On February 9, the CTO legal regime was lifted.

Politician and public figure Gennady Yefimov, the former head of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) faction of the Stavropol Territory emphasizes that the farm of Petrovsky Khutor is not particularly remarkable. According to the politician, the majority of farmers work in the field of agriculture.

At the same time, Gennady Yefimov doubted the presence of some kind of “Ukrainian trace” in the case.

Activist and ecologist Andrei Fokin emphasized that he, like many residents of the region, did not notice the CTO being carried out. The activist notes that the law enforcers’ data stating that the alleged militants were plotting a terror act at the railway station are quite plausible.

According to the information of the “Caucasian Knot”, over the past five years, no CTO legal regime has not been introduced in the Stavropol Territory.

In 2021, no casualties or incidents were recorded in the Stavropol Territory. In 2020, at least one person fell victim to the armed conflict in the region. In 2019, one armed incident was also recorded in the Stavropol Territory, in which two alleged militants were killed.

In December 2018, in the Stavropol Territory, two alleged members of the armed underground were killed during the law enforcers’ attempt to detain them.

On the night of December 9, 2017, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Stavropol Territory. According to the law enforcers’ information, three militants were killed. The killed suspects were identified as natives of Chechnya, Dagestan, and the Stavropol Territory.

In April 2016, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Novoselitsky District of the Stavropol Territory. The district police department was attacked there. According to the investigators’ reports, one of the attackers blew himself up, and two others were killed.

In January 2015, Tamirlan Makhmutov, a resident of the village of Kayasula, was killed in a shootout with policemen. According to the law enforcers’ version, the man opened fire on them.

On April 28, 2014, during an armed clash in the Stepnovsky District, two men suspected of participation in the activities of the armed underground were killed. According to the Stavropol investigators’ reports, both of the killed suspects were identified as residents of Dagestan.

In 2013, eight members of the armed underground were killed. On June 28, one of them, suspected of firing at policemen near the watershed of the Sengileevskoye village, was killed in Stavropol during the law enforcers’ attempt to detain him. Four others, who were later identified as residents of the Zolsky District of Kabardino-Balkaria, were killed in the Georgievsky District on July 30. Two suspected militants were also killed in the Predgorny District on November 8. The eighth suspected militant killed was identified as Ibragim Nurov, a resident of the Abram-Tyube village, who, according to the law enforcers’ version, fired at them and threw a grenade in the Neftekumsky District on December 30.

In 2012, nine members of the armed underground were killed. Five of them were killed during a special operation carried out on April 10 in Mineralnye Vody in an apartment building cordoned off by law enforcers in Zheleznodorozhnaya Street. The CTO legal regime was introduced in the city. On April 9, four other suspected militants were killed in the Neftekumsky District after they opened fire at law enforcers when they tried to stop the suspects’ car for a check.
