Dagestani journalists hold pickets in Gadjiev's support
The journalists Magomed Magomedov and Idris Yusupov have held two solo pickets in Makhachkala demanding to stop the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, one of the editors of the "Chernovik" weekly outlet.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues treat his criminal case as politically motivated persecution and regularly hold pickets in Makhachkala in his support. On March 6, policemen did not interfere with the pickets held by Magomedov and Yusupov, but took written explanations from them.
Gadjiev's case is lost amid other news; and such actions remind people of his fate, his friends pointed out on February 20, after another series of pickets.
This time, on March 13, solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev were held by Magomed Magomedov and Idris Yusupov, the "Chernovik" reported in its Telegram channel. Magomedov went to the picket with a poster reading: "Freedom to Abdulmumin Gadjiev!" and Yusupov held a poster with the inscription: "Freedom to journalism!"
"We demand freedom for journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev and termination of an absurd criminal case," says the post in the Telegram channel.
Let us remind you that Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charity Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, have been in custody since June 2019 on charges of financing terrorism.
On March 2, their defence completed presenting proofs in court, but Tambiev demanded to exclude the protocol of his first interrogation from the case files; and Rizvanov demanded to summon new witnesses to the trial.
