Pensioner from Chechnya fined for discrediting Russian army

In North Ossetia, a court fined Ruslan Reshidov, a pensioner from Chechnya, to a fine of 30,000 roubles, recognizing his words about the special military operation in Ukraine as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

On March 22, in a public place, during his conflict with employees of a company, Ruslan Reshidov “critically spoke about the hostilities in Ukraine.” The pensioner partially admitted his guilt. He explained that he had said so because of the refusal of the company’s employees to provide him with the services he needed, and when voicing his statement, he had in mind the suffering people, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports.

Ruslan Reshidov is an unemployed pensioner, a Chechen by nationality.

No circumstances were found to extenuate his guilt, the court decided.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
