Court dismisses the case against North-Ossetian woman on discrediting militaries

A court in North Ossetia has terminated the proceedings in the case of Regina Gagieva, who posted pacifist comments in a social network.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 4, 2022, administrative liability was introduced for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, after which residents of the North-Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts (NCFD and SFD) began being prosecuted under this article. The maximum penalty provided thereby is a fine of 50,000 roubles for citizens, but a repeated violation of the article within a year threatens with criminal liability.

The Alagir Court has terminated the administrative case against Regina Gagieva, a local resident, who, according to investigators had posted pacifist comments on the Instagram*. The court came to the conclusion that the term for bringing her to administrative responsibility had already expired, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

Gagieva refused to plead guilty and asked not to bring her to administrative responsibility.

The statute of limitations for bringing to responsibility under this article is three months, starting from the day of committing the offense, the court has explained.
