Case law enforcer accused of beating Krasnodar resident reaches the court

The case initiated against the law enforcer accused of beating up Ilya Afrosin, a Krasnodar resident, who died after detention, has been sent to the Prikubansky District Court of Krasnodar.

Human rights defenders learned about Ilya Afrosin's death in September 2021, after thy received an appeal from Yuri Afrosin, Ilya's father. Yuri said that his son Ilya, born in 1989, was twice detained by law enforcers. On June 29, 2021, after the first detention, Ilya Afrosin sent a video with traces of traumas to his sister; and after the second detention, on July 1, he stopped contacting his relatives, according to the website of the Team against Torture (TaT)*. Ilya Afrosin was found on the steps of the store, and he died in an ambulance.

Lawyers from the Krasnodar branch of the TaT* have achieved a check in relation of two other law enforcers who allegedly witnessed the beating Ilya Afrosin up.
