Swiss court rejects lawsuit against Chechen activist Lachin Mamishov

The Swiss Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a hate speech claim against Euro-Ichkerian Lachin Mamishov, who posted on the Internet a video of the explosion on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022 and accompanied it with an ironic caption that such explosions could occur in Moscow as well.

The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that the above explosion set fire to seven train tanks, and partially collapsed two automobile spans of the bridge. The Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the explosion a terror act and said that Ukrainian special services were the perpetrators and customers of the explosion. On October 12, 2022, natives from the Caucasus were named as participants in the preparation of the explosion of the Crimean Bridge.

According to Lachin Mamishov, activists loyal to Russian authorities had filed a complaint against him.

"The prosecutor's office found no signs of inciting interethnic and interreligious hatred in my video. It has also noted that such reflections don't violate the law, since they contain no appeals," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has quoted Mamishov as saying.

After the prosecutor's office, the lawsuit was filed with the Swiss SC, which found no corpus delicti either. Because of received threats, Mamishov is now under the protection of Swiss law enforcement bodies.

On August 17, 2022, Lachin Mamishov was appointed representative of Ichkeria*** in Switzerland; and he is an Azerbaijani documentary filmmaker, the "Turan.az" outlet writes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that Lachin Mamishov has repeatedly taken part in the actions organized by members of the Chechen Diaspora in Europe.
