Residents of Dagestan dispute about resonant museum photo session
The photo session depicting a girl in the Makhachkala museum has unreasonably caused an angry reaction in Dagestan, some residents of the republic have pointed out. Meanwhile, others have objected that the indignation of the "fighters for morality" is justified.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 24, a photo from a photo session filmed at the Dagestani Museum of Fine Arts appeared in a social network: a girl in jeans and a tank top posed against the backdrop of the panorama "Storming the Village of Akhulgo". Commentators have treated her clothes as too open and demanded that the girl, the photographer and museum staff be punished for an "immoral" photo session filmed at the painting dedicated to the history of Dagestan.
Maryam, a woman from Makhachkala, has seen no reason for resonance in the photo. "Morality zealots were apparently outraged only by the fact that photos were made against the painting 'Storming the Village of Akhulgo'," she said.
In her turn, another woman from of Dagestan named Sakinat was outraged by the actions of the participants in the photo session. "It is unacceptable when half-naked photo sessions are arranged near the painting depicting the feat of the peoples of Dagestan," she has stated.
In her telegram channel, Fatima Abdulkarim, a lawyer, asserts that the photo session has violated no laws. "There is no reason to hold those involved in the photo session accountable … The worst thing about this situation is to read comments calling for violence," Ms Abdulkarim has written.
Let us remind you that in Dagestan, fighters for morality regularly criticize the people whose behaviour, in their opinion, is unacceptable. Thus, on June 24, college students in Makhachkala presented a fashion show, during which some models walked down the catwalk with religious symbols. After that, in social networks, morality zealots demanded to fire the college bosses for having insulted believers' feelings.
