Jehovah's Witness* from Kuban has his custody conditions toughened

By the administration of the colony in Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory), where he is serving his term, Oleg Danilov, a Jehovah's Witness from the village of Kholmskaya, was declared a malicious regime violator and placed into a cell-type facility.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in March 2021, the court sentenced Oleg Danilov to three years in colony within the case of an extremist organization. According to investigators, in 2020 he gave lectures on the Internet based on materials of Jehovah's Witnesses*, which was recognized as an extremist organization.

The administration of the colony where Danilov is being held has repeatedly placed him into the dungeon (punishment cell) under far-fetched pretexts, because of which the believer was declared a malicious regime violator, the independent human rights project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" has informed.

A cell-type facility (also known as PKT) is a locked room in a colony with tougher custody conditions, where convicts stay during their entire terms. Earlier, it was called the "high-security barrack".

Earlier, Oleg Danilov was placed into the punishment cell and into tough custody conditions, the website that tracks the persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses* in Russia has informed.

On August 10, the "Caucasian Knot" reported about the fate of Vasily Meleshko, another convicted Jehovah's Witness* from the village of Kholmskaya, who is also serving a three-year term in a Kuban colony; he was placed into the dungeon (punishment cell) for 15 days.

*396 Russian organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses are recognized as extremist, and their activities in Russia are banned by court's decision.
