Advocate complains about threats from Chechnya
After Tatiana Solomina, an advocate, provided legal help to a Chechen resident who fled domestic violence, she and her son began receiving threats.
Tatiana, who had helped a client of the SK SOS Crisis Group*, is threatened by his family. The client's mother has informed on the prepared kidnapping of Solomina's 13-year-old son and stated that she had hired bandits for revenge, the SK SOS Crisis Group* has reported.
In July, the young man escaped from Chechnya, but two unidentified men tracked him down and removed him from the train. Then, his father flew in to take him back to Chechnya. The young man fears that his relatives could execute him: his father threatened him with murder, and his brother said that he "should be sent to prison with Kadyrov people." The young man turned to Tatiana Solomina, who helped him to leave for another region.
The young man phoned his mother to ask her not to look for him. In response, he heard threats against the advocate and her son. According to the mother, his family managed to find out the advocate's name and place of residence, and the age and place of study of her son.
"We've hired most notorious bandits, and paid them money to execute this woman and her son. You can tell her: thugs will reach her," the young man's mother said in a telephone conversation.
Tatiana Solomina has demanded to open a criminal case in connection with threats to her life and health.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that domestic violence and death threats force residents of Northern Caucasus to flee from their families. According to human rights defenders, this is often the only way to save lives.
