Azerbaijani Prosecutor's Office interested in sales of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper
The Department for Fighting Corruption of the State Office of Public Prosecutor of Azerbaijan has sent requests to the press distribution companies "Gaya," "Gasid," "Metroservice" and "Syama" asking to provide data on sale volumes of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper in 2005-2007.
The request of the anticorruption agency is connected with the investigation into the case of Mushfig Guseinov, a journalist of the "Bizim Yol" newspaper, arrested last month on accusation of bribe-taking. The information was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Bakhaddin Gaziev.
The editor does not exclude that the case against the journalist can become a motive for application of economic sanctions to the "Bizim Yol" newspaper.
Meanwhile, the arrested Mushfig Guseinov met human rights activist Elchin Bekhbudov and asked him to warn his colleagues-journalists against hasty conclusions from the accusations presented to him.
