KBR: soldier convicted for evading service

A court in Nalchik has sentenced Isa Malsagov, a military serviceman, to five years of conditional freedom deprivation, finding him guilty of leaving his military unit without permission.

According to investigators, Isa Malsagov, a mobilized resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) had left his military unit without permission. A few months later, he appeared at the military investigating division after receiving a call from the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office), and stated that he had spent all this time with the aunt who had raised him.

As reported by the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project, the court took into account Malsagov's participation in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine as a mitigating circumstance.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on September 14, a court in Novorossiysk sentenced Alexander Zhuravel, a mobilized person, to five years and two months in penal colony, finding him guilty of leaving his unit without permission. The court treated his arguments about his mother's illness as unconvincing.
