Appointment as battalion curator to introduce Adam Kadyrov into law enforcers’ circle
Adam Kadyrov, a minor son of the leader of Chechnya, does not have the competence to lead a military unit, but his appointment as curator of the Chechen battalion of the Ministry of Defence is intended to introduce him into the law enforcers circle, suggest human rights defenders. The position of a curator of a military unit is not typical for the Ministry of Defence, emphasize military experts.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that 16-year-old Adam Kadyrov has been entrusted with supervising the battalion named after Sheikh Mansur.
There are no analogues to the position of “curator” in other units of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD), states military expert Alexander Khramchikhin.
Retired Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Amir Kolov notes that the responsibilities and purposes of the Adam Kadyrov’s appointment are still unclear.
The appointment of Adam Kadyrov seems not serious, emphasizes human rights defender Oyub Titiev. “At 16 years old, what kind of a military leader can he be? He still needs to study,” said the human rights defender.
The new Adam Kadyrov’s appointment has symbolic significance, points out Oyub Titiev.
With such appointments, Adam Kadyrov is being introduced into the law enforcers’ circle, believes Svetlana Gannushkina*, the chair of the “Civic Assistance Committee”*.
Let us remind you that by November 17, Adam Kadyrov received at least nine state and public awards. At the same time, the “Chechnya Segodnya (Chechnya Today) news agency mentioned only the beating of arrested Nikita Zhuravel among the merits of Adam Kadyrov.
