After killing gay pride parade participant in Germany, native of Chechnya faces extradition
A court in Germany decided to extradite the 21-year-old native of Chechnya, who, according to investigators, had beaten up a gay pride parade participant to death. His advocate claims that his client is homosexual himself, and he receives threats from other Chechen natives.
In August 2022, the Christopher Street Day gay pride parade was held in Munster, during which a native of Chechnya harassed several women, and after their refusal to contact him, insulted them. A trans man, Malte K., stood up for the women. The native of Chechnya struck him several times; and Malte K. died in hospital, the "Kommersant" writes.
According to psychiatrists, Nuradi A. (the Chechen in question) committed the murder unknowingly due to his hidden homosexual desires; and he came to the Christopher Street Day out of curiosity, the "Kommersant" writes with reference to the "Bild".
Nuradi has appealed against the court's ruling to deport him. He is in danger in Chechnya because of his alleged homosexuality. Nuradi's family has already received threats because of his orientation from other immigrants from Chechnya, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.
Nuradi came to Germany with his parents in 2014. In 2017, they wanted to deport him, but this was not done because he was a minor, and also because of the general human rights situation in Chechnya.
On November 30, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia declared the International Public LGBT Movement to be an extremist organization.
Let us remind you that Russian and Chechen authorities refuse to admit persecutions of gays. In 2018, Alexander Konovalov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ), told UN officials that Russian authorities were unable to detect any LGBT people in Chechnya.
