Resident of Rostov Region sentenced to long imprisonment on charge of high treason
In Bryansk, a court sentenced Pyotr Kolistratov, a resident of the Rostov Region, accused of attempting to defect to the side of Ukraine, to eight years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.
The Bryansk Regional Court accused Pyotr Kolistratov of attempted high treason and illegal crossing of the Russian border.
The man decided “to defect to the enemy’s side and join a radical nationalist armed formation of Ukraine to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” reports the Telegram channel of the joint press service for the regional courts.
According to the investigators’ version, the resident of the Rostov Region “entered into correspondence with Ukrainian recruiters” and planned a route to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Bryansk Region. When Pyotr Kolistratov arrived from the Rostov Region to Bryansk, he bought an inflatable boat there, since his plan included crossing a water barrier, and then left for the Starodubsky District of the Bryansk Region.
Public prosecutors state that Pyotr Kolistratov “went on foot towards the border” of the Russian Federation, but was detained by law enforces.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported about another resident of the Rostov Region who was sentenced under the article on high treason. The Krasnodar Territorial Court sentenced the defendant to 12 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.
