Irina Skorovarova, accused of discrediting Russian Army, left under house arrest

The appellate instance has upheld the ruling to place Irina Skorovarova, a resident of Taganrog, under house arrest; she is accused within a criminal case of discrediting the Russian Army. This was reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"* with reference to Sergey Kovalevich, Irina's advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, law enforcers came to Skorovarova to search her home within a criminal case about discrediting the Russian Army. The next day, the court sent her under house arrest for two months. Now, Irina cannot go out to buy food for her 12-year-old daughter and medicines for her elderly grandmother, the advocate has stated.

The reason for the criminal prosecution of Irina was in a video about a Russian military place in Skorovarova's page in the "Odnoklassniki" social network.

Let us remind you that the project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" had recognized Skorovarova as a political prisoner. She is accused of discrediting the Russian Army and for her pacifist position, human rights defenders have pointed out.
