Verdict to teenager from Adygea in case on high treason changed

The court of appeal changed the verdict to Kevin Lik, an 18-year-old teenager from Maykop, sentenced in a case on high treason. The court excluded the term of restriction of freedom from the verdict, leaving in force the sentence of four years of imprisonment.

In December 2023, Kevin Lik was found guilty of high treason, as, according to the court’s version, as a schoolboy he took photographs of a military unit in Maykop and sent them to a “representative of a foreign state,” the TASS reports. The teenager celebrated his 18th birthday in the spring of 2023.

“The man was accused of assisting a foreign state – Germany – in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation. The first instance court decided to punish the man with four years of imprisonment in a penitentiary colony with a restriction of freedom for one year,” reports the court’s page in the “VKontakte” social network.

The Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases changed the court’s verdict, excluding the additional punishment of restriction of freedom.
