Armed incident in Karachay-Cherkessia becomes second within a week

An attack on policemen on the night of April 29 was preceded by an attack on a squad of the patrol-and-post police service (known as PPS) on April 22.

According to the preliminary information, one policeman was killed and four others were wounded during the attack on the road police (known as GIBDD) checkpoint in the village of Mara-Ayagy. Three suspects involved in the attack were also reported killed.

On the night of April 22, policemen were attacked in Karachaevsk while they were patrolling the territory. Unidentified people opened fire on the policemen and then stole their firearms. As a result, Lieutenant Murat Kalakhanov and Sergeant Roman Guschin were killed, and another policeman was wounded. Five suspects, including Akhmat and Ruslan Elkanov, Kazbek Djazaev, Ruslan Semyonov, and Vladimir Averyanov, have been put on the wanted list, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.
