Leila Gatagazheva transferred to house arrest
A court decided to place under house arrest Leila Gatagazheva, a native of Ingushetia, accused of involvement in formations of Syrian militants. Leila Gatagazheva returned to Malgobek from a SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Pyatigorsk, human rights defenders reported.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in February, investigators excluded the article on aiding terrorist activities from the charges in Leila Gatagazheva’s case. At present, the woman is accused only of participation in an illegal armed formation.
Leila Gatagazheva, born in 2001, is a mother of two children. The woman is accused of aiding and abetting terrorism and participating in an illegal armed formation (IAF) in Syria. A mother of Leila Gatagazheva took her from Ingushetia to Syria when the girl was 12 years old and married her there when she was 13 years old. Leila Gatagazheva had already served five years in an Iraqi prison on a similar charge of working for militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), reported the defence, seeking to have the criminal case closed.
Let us remind you that on December 29, 2023, at a request of the defence, the Malgobek City Court changed the pre-trial restriction measure for Leila Gatagazheva from detention to house arrest. However, on February 1, at an insistent request of a public prosecutor, the court transferred Leila Gatagazheva back to the SIZO.
