Residents of Stavropol Territory apologize for burning New Testament

A video with an apology from two participants in the incident with the burning of the New Testament in the Stavropol Territory was posted by Governor Vladimir Vladimirov. The young men have admitted their guilt and promised not to do this again.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 3, three residents of the town of Novoaleksandrovsk were detained for publicly burning the New Testament; they are suspected of insulting believers' feelings and hooliganism.

"These are the 'heroes' of the video with the burning of the Bible. They repent, their relatives are worried. Asking for forgiveness is important. But words cannot undo what has been done. The guys ruined the lives of themselves and their families," the governor wrote in his Telegram channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, 2024, a court in Grozny sentenced Nikita Zhuravel to 3.5 years in penal colony, finding him guilty of violating the right to religion and of hooliganism. The defence said it would appeal against the verdict.
