Convicted journalist Alexander Nozdrinov transferred to a colony in Kuban
Alexander Nozdrinov, a journalist and blogger from Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory), convicted of spreading fakes about the Russian Army, was transferred to a colony in the town of Khadyzhensk. This was reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"*.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nozdrinov was sentenced to 8.5 years of freedom deprivation within a criminal case for spreading fakes about the Russian Army. His relatives linked his persecution with his civic position and stated that the court was biased. The journalist was convicted for his help to people, his wife Ekaterina has noted. On February 19, 2024, the appeal court upheld the verdict.
The project "Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial" has recognized Nozdrinov as a political prisoner.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 14, 2024, Russian President, Vladimir Putin, signed a law on the confiscation of property used to disseminate deliberately false information about the Russian Army, as well as calls for action against the country's security. Lawyers pointed out that the new law is intended to further intimidate dissidents.
