Magomedov’s picket attracts attention of tourists to Dagestani journalist Gadjiev’s case

In Makhachkala, tourists became interested in Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s case after noticing a solo picket in his support, reported journalist Magomed Magomedov.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev consider his criminal case to be political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support.

Today, such a picket has been held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik”.

“Police officers came up and recorded standard personal information. They did not interfere with the picket, they were polite,” Magomed Magomedov said.

According to the journalist’s note, in addition to residents of Dagestan, interest in the picket were also showed by tourists from other regions of Russia.

Dana Sakieva, a spouse of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, says she worries about her husband, who is being kept at a SIZO (pre-trial prison) in Novocherkassk, as there is a danger of a tougher regime after the hostage-taking in the SIZO in Rostov.

On June 14, on the fifth anniversary of the Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s arrest, an interview was published in his Telegram channel in which Abdulmumin Gadjiev said that after his arrest he was analysing “criminal cases on terrorism fabricated in Dagestan and beyond the republic.”
