Journalist Zalina Marshenkulova challenges her arrest in absentia

An appeal filed by Zalina Marshenkulova, a journalist from Kabardino-Balkaria, against her arrest in absentia in a case on justifying terrorism has been received by the Moscow City Court.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the reason for the criminal case was Zalina Marshenkulova’s posts in her Telegram channel. On April 17, it became known that the journalist was put on the wanted list, and on May 17, the Perovsky District Court of Moscow arrested her in absentia.

Zalina Marshenkulova herself, who lives in Germany, considers the accusation absurd and connects the persecution with her political position.

On June 25, the Moscow City Court will consider the appeal against the arrest in absentia of Zalina Marshenkulova, an author of the “Women’s Power” Telegram channel, the “RIA Novosti” news agency reported.

In 2020, Zalina Marshenkulova appealed to the police because of the threats she received on social networks after she had posted an entry in support of actresses from a video recorded by the frontman of the “Rammstein” heavy metal band. Investigators refused to investigate the threats reported by Zalina Marshenkulova.
