Omarov brothers apologize for militants’ attack

In their video message, five Omarov brothers asked for forgiveness from the families of the people who fell victim to the militants’ attack in Dagestan.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Magomed Omarov, the head of the Sergokalinsky District, was dismissed from his position after the militants’ attack. Sons and a nephew of Magomed Omarov were involved in the militants’ attack, the leader of Dagestan claimed.

On June 23, a temple and a synagogue in Derbent and a cathedral and a road-and-patrol police service (known as DPS) checkpoint in Makhachkala were attacked by militants. As a result, 21 people were killed and 46 others were injured. The death toll from the militants’ attacks includes Nikolai Kotelnikov, a priest of the Derbent temple, and a guard of the cathedral in Makhachkala.

The video with the Omarov brothers’ apologies was posted by the “Sprosite u Rasula” (Ask Rasul) Telegram channel.

“We, the Omarov family, deeply mourn what happened. We have always been against extremism and terrorism. We ask all the families of the victims for forgiveness for the terror aсt that our brother committed,” one of the Omarov brothers stated in the video.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that one of the suspects killed by law enforcers was identified as Ali Zakarigaev, who headed the district branch of the “Spravedlivaya Rossiya” (Fair Russia) Party. Ali Zakarigaev was a nephew of the head of the district. Another uncle of Ali Zakarigaev asked relatives of the victims to forgive those directly involved in the militants’ attack.

  • Resident of North Ossetia treats compensation for beating up by law enforcer as insufficient

Soslan Dzidakhanov disagrees with the amount of compensation for his suffered moral harm that the Ardonsky Court awarded him for being beaten up by a law enforcer. In the Russian judicial practice, it is customary to decrease the compensation amount; and the resonance from Tskaev's case has partially contributed to a decrease in the number of tortures in the republic, Vladimir Tskaev's widow and his advocate have stressed.
