Tikhoretsk police respond to beating of Djalaganiya two weeks after incident

Beaten animal rights activist Denis Djalaganiya was summoned to the Tikhoretsk police “for re-questioning” in the case on the attack. Based on a denouncing report against Denis Djalaganiya, the police summoned his colleague for questioning and checked the correspondence on her mobile phone, looking for “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.”

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that three men beat animal treatment inspector Denis Djalaganiya when he tried to check the conditions of keeping dogs in a shelter working with stray animals. One of the beaters wrote a denouncing report to the police against the animal rights activist, accusing him of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, and the victim was questioned by the FSB on the matter.

Denis Djalaganiya recalled that he did not obtain a resolution on the appointment of a forensic medical examination of his beatings until on July 18, while he and another animal rights activist were “immediately” summoned for questioning on the false denunciation of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The activist did not rule out that during the “re-questioning,” the investigator will switch all his attention from the case on beatings to the case on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

“The FSB did not summon me again, but they summoned one of other animal rights activists. They took and checked her mobile phone, which contained her correspondence with me. They checked the mobile phone without any resolution... Meanwhile, the law enforcement bodies have not yet responded to my request to check the animal shelter,” the public animal treatment inspector emphasized.

Animal rights activist Tamara suggested that the law enforcement bodies were pointed to her by a friend of the animal shelter owner, who attended a general chat on the Internet. According to the activists’ version, by beating Denis Djalaganiya and filing denouncing report against him, the animal shelter owners want to distract attention from the violations identified by the animal rights activists.
