FSB reports on prevented terror acts in Dagestan

Three residents of Kaspiysk were preparing a series of terror acts in Dagestan, including against law enforcement buildings and an Orthodox temple. The suspects have been detained.

According to the FSB's Public Relations Centre, law enforcers detained three Kaspiysk residents, who had planned a series of terror acts in Dagestan.

The detainees are supporters of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia; they were planning sabotage and terror acts against law enforcement bodies in Dagestan, and were also preparing an attack on an Orthodox temple, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.

Searches were conducted at detainees' residences; weapons, homemade explosive devices, and instructions on conducting combat operations in urban and forested areas were found there. The detainees have confessed. A criminal case has been opened under articles on plotting terror acts, organizing a terrorist society, and illegally manufacturing explosives.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on June 23, on the Trinity Day, which is one of the main Christian holidays, militants attacked synagogues and an Orthodox temple in Derbent and Makhachkala. As a result, at least 22 people perished and 46 others were wounded.
