Russian General Prosecutor treats militants’ attacks in Dagestan as authorities’ failure

The militants’ attacks in Dagestan, like the terror act at Crocus City Hall, occurred because of the failure of the authorities, which did not pay sufficient attention to countering terrorism. The above was stated by Russian General Prosecutor Igor Krasnov.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 23, militants attacked an Orthodox church and a synagogue in Derbent, and a cathedral and a road-and-patrol police service (known as DPS) checkpoint were attacked in Makhachkala. As a result, 22 people were killed and 46 others were injured.

The terror acts in the Moscow Region and Dagestan “challenged the law enforcement system and the entire Russian society,” claimed Russian General Prosecutor Igor Krasnov.

“In many ways, the terror acts became possible because of failure on the part of the public authorities, which requires us to conduct inspections and respond to countering terrorism at a fundamentally different level,” the official website of the Russian General Prosecutor Office quotes Igor Krasnov as stating.

Let us remind you that the militants’ attacks in Dagestan could have been prevented if the law enforcement bodies had guarded religious sites more carefully and paid more attention to preventive work, veterans of the special services pointed out. However, the security of religious sites in the republic was enhanced only the day after the militants’ attacks and deaths.
