Krasnodar historian fined for discrediting Russian Army

Sergey Ryabchikov, a historian from Krasnodar, has been fined by 30,000 roubles for a post in which he called himself a pacifist.

The Leninsky District Court of Krasnodar has fined Sergey Ryabchikov, 62, under the article on discrediting the Russian Army. The court has treated his post placed in the "VKontakte" social network back in April 2022, as discrediting, the "Mediazona"* has informed.

In his post Ryabchikov wrote: "I have repeatedly told everyone with whom I could communicate that I was and remain a pacifist."

Sergey is a Category III disabled person; he suffers from acute ischemic disease and hypertension.

He was also charged with demonstration of Nazi symbols due to another post in the "VKontakte" with a photo of a handshake of foreign ministers of the USSR and the Third Reich, Vyacheslav Molotov and Joachim Ribbentrop. The historian was fined for this by 1000 roubles.

*On September 29, 2021, the Ministry of Justice of Russia included the LLC "ZP" (the legal entity that had established the "Mediazona") into the list of media outlets-foreign agents.
