Kizilyurt resident kidnapped by her relatives, human rights defenders report

Relatives forcibly took Aishat Magomedova, a resident of Kizilyurt, who had fled from domestic violence, from her Moscow apartment. Human rights defenders believe that the young woman is in danger.

Aishat Magomedova left home because of domestic violence, the “Marem” human rights group reported. The young woman asked for help a month ago.

“She wanted to leave home because of permanent pressure from her relatives ... Aishat says that she was beaten and humiliated since her childhood. The relatives told her that she had no right to her own opinion and life,” the “Marem” human rights group reported in its Telegram channel.

Aishat Magomedova was sent to study in Moscow under the supervision of her two aunts. The young woman managed to get a job, but the control over her was intensified. She decided to leave home and reduce communication with her family members to a minimum. However, over the course of a month, the relatives found Aishat several times. Once, they knocked down the door to the apartment where she lived with her friend. The young woman was very scared, but she thought that she had managed to come to an agreement with her relatives.

On July 31, Aishat Magomedova was kidnapped by her relatives. “Aishat’s mother, father, and aunt broke into the apartment where she lived. According to the friend’s version, Aishat was thrown onto the bed and beaten. The relatives seized the Aishat’s passport ... The camera footage shows Aishat being dragged by her arms and legs, screaming, and struggling,” the report says.

The human rights defenders suggested that Aishat was being taken to Kizilyurt. “We have every reason to believe that the Aishat’s life and health are in danger!” the human rights defenders claimed.

“Aishat complained that as a child she had to fight with her father until she was bleeding. For example, last summer, when she came to Dagestan, he could hit her just to ‘test her strength’,” said Aishat’s friend as quoted by the “Svoboda (Nie) Za Gorami” (Freedom (Not) Behind the Mountains) project in its Telegram channel.
