Tuapse townspeople, Krasnodar Territory, complain about absence of data about bomb shelters

Regular drone attacks are frightening, but residents of Tuapse have no information about the locations of bomb shelters in residential areas, townspeople have complained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since the start of the Russia's special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, the Krasnodar Territory has experienced regular drone attacks. On July 22, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in Tuapse after such an attack.

The increasing drone attacks are alarming, said Irina Krasnova, who lives half a kilometre from the oil refinery in Tuapse. "It's impossible to get used to it. The feeling of terrible fear that you will be killed does not leave. The attacks mostly happen at night and early in the morning," she said.

According to her story, residents are unaware on where to hide in the event of an attack on residential areas. "They give us no addresses of bomb shelters ... But next to the oil refinery, which is constantly under attack, there is a kindergarten, a school and a huge shopping centre," she has added.

Stanislav, a resident of the village of Shepsi, Tuapse District, said that there are still many tourists on the beaches this year. "Vacationers are not afraid because they've realized that the Ukrainians do not bomb civilians," he said, noting that he does not know where the bomb shelters are. "Some of them were sold for commercial purposes, while others are in disrepair and covered with garbage," he said.

Ukrainian drones are flying towards Tuapse because there are a large oil refinery and a strategic seaport there, which are used, among other things, to supply fuel to the Russian Army, Vasily Dandykin, a military expert, has explained.

He believes that the primary task of Tuapse authorities is to create safe conditions for the civilian population; and this is not only the work of the air defence, but also the installation of bomb shelters.

Amir Kolov, a retired colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (NIA), has added that the attention area of Ukrainian militaries is a large oil refinery, a seaport and the creation of an atmosphere of discontent and fear among the population. "As a rule, only ordinary people become victims in such conflicts," he has added.
