Volgograd resident convicted of calls for extremist activity

In Volgograd, a court sentenced 34-year-old Dmitry Zubkov to one and a half years of imprisonment in a penal colony for calling for violent actions against citizens of Russian nationality because of the special military operation in Ukraine. The Volgograd Regional Court dismissed the appeal filed by the Dmitry Zubkov’s defence and upheld the sentence.

According to the criminal case materials, in March 2023, Dmitry Zubkov posted a comment in a Telegram channel calling for violent actions against Russians because of their participation in the special military operation (SMO), the united press service for the courts of the Volgograd Region reports in its official Telegram channel.

Dmitry Zubkov was sentenced to one year and six months of imprisonment. In addition, the convict has been prohibited for two years from engaging in activities related to the creation and use of accounts on social networks for the purpose of posting public information.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Volzhsky City Court sentenced three pensioners, members of the Volzhsky branch of the “Russian Security Committee”, including Aleksandr Gaivoronsky, Sergey Dorofeev, and Leonid Lavrentiev, to three years of imprisonment in a criminal case on extremism. In January, the Volgograd Regional Court upheld the sentence.
