In Volgograd Region, law enforcers report sending to Ukraine contract soldiers from among migrants

Raids to identify migrants who received Russian citizenship but did not register for military service were carried out in the Volgograd Region. Twenty-five people were taken to military registration and enlistment offices. Since the beginning of the checks, 25 holders of acquired citizenship and six foreigners have signed contracts for military service, the Investigating Department for the Southern Military District of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported.

The law enforcement bodies checked 127 former migrants, among whom 25 people were identified who evaded military registration. They were taken to military registration and enlistment offices, the “Vysota 102” (Height 102) portal reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the law enforcement bodies reported raids to search for illegal migrants. So, at a market in Rostov-on-Don, law enforcers found 16 foreigners who violated the rules of stay in Russia, and 18 people who received citizenship but did not register for military service. In the Volgograd Region, 45 violators of migration laws were identified. The raids are being carried out to identify migrants who have received Russian citizenship but are not registered for military service, and to send them to serve by conscription or persuade them to sign a contract, human rights defenders suggest. Their opponents argue that the raids are related to the statements voiced by the ICRF’s chair about the increase in crime among migrants.

Earlier, the human rights defenders have repeatedly pointed out the violation of the migrants’ rights in the regions of Southern Russia. In particular, on October 17, 2023, it became known that in Ingushetia, the police unlawfully fined a woman who was not involved in the violation of migration laws. Meanwhile, more than ten years ago, Russian human rights defenders spoke out against the campaign directed against illegal migrants.
