Blogger Sophia Angel-Barokko sentenced to probation
A court in Maykop has found Sophia Angel-Barokko, a video blogger, guilty of justifying extremism and insulting believers' feelings and sentenced her to two years of conditional imprisonment (probation) and a fine.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, it became known that investigators dropped the charge of justifying terrorism against Angel-Barokko (which assumes a sentence of five to seven years of freedom deprivation), but accused her of calling for extremism (up to five years in jail). Sophia was released from the SIZO (pre-trial prison) under recognizance not to leave the place, after which she complained about threats addressed to her in social networks.
In her videos, Sophia Angel-Barokko talks about ancient gods and magic; however, the "Rosfinmonitoring" (the Russian Federal Financial Monitoring Service) has added her to the list of extremists and terrorists.
As reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"*, apart from the probation, Sophia was fined by 100,000 roubles and banned from administering Internet resources for two years.
*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
