Case on preparation of explosion at Nalchik train station reaches court

A case against Vitaly Gaivoronsky, accused of preparing a terror act at the Nalchik train station, will be considered by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in December 2023, the law enforcement bodies announced that they had prevented a terror act in Nalchik. The police detained Vitaly Gaivoronsky, a 42-year-old native of the Lugansk Region. According to the law enforcement bodies’ information, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found at the suspect’s home, which he planned to detonate in the building of the Nalchik train station.

Vitaly Gaivoronsky is being charged with four criminal articles, including preparing a terror act, high treason, illegal trafficking of explosives, and manufacturing of explosive devices. The suspect can face the punishment of up to life imprisonment.
