Defender of advocate Fedorenko appeals against her arrest

An appeal has been lodged against the arrest of advocate Natalia Fedorenko from Gelendzhik, accused of violating privacy, her defender reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 1, Natalia Fedorenko, an advocate of blogger Vadim Kharchenko*, was detained at a court hearing in Novorossiysk, where a criminal case instituted against her for violating the privacy of a judge was being considered. Natalia Fedorenko was taken into custody, although the article under which she is charged does not stipulate such a pre-trial restriction measure, her advocate emphasizes.

The defence has already lodged an appeal against the arrest of Natalia Fedorenko to the Oktyabrsky District Court of Novorossiysk. In accordance with the law, the appeal is to be considered within three days.

Blogger Vadim Kharchenko*, a client of advocate Natalia Fedorenko, has been recognized as a political prisoner. On September 26, the court closed the trial in his case after the media began covering the court hearings.
