Analysts believe that Arashukov's appeal to Kadyrov aims to soften his sentence
The appeal of the life-sentenced Rauf Arashukov to Ramzan Kadyrov was caused by his desire to gain support and achieve a verdict mitigation, analysts have suggested.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 16, an apology to Kadyrov and a request for help addressed to him was posted in Arashukov's page in a social network. The apology to Kadyrov has to do with their quarrel, because of which the prosecution of Arashukov father and son was launched, Ilyas Bogatyryov, a journalist from Karachay-Cherkessia, believes.
"I've heard many stories about how Rauf had offended Kadyrov by not keeping his promise ... And after that, he and his father became figurants in criminal cases and eventually received a life sentence. That is, the revelations began precisely after that quarrel," Bogatyryov has stated.
In his opinion, Arashukov relies on Kadyrov's help in mitigating the sentence.
A political analyst from Karachay-Cherkessia agrees that Arashukov's appeal to Kadyrov was caused by the hope for help from the head of Chechnya.
"Arashukov is in such a difficult situation that he is ready to take any steps to change or to get the slightest chance to change his situation," the source has explained, adding that "the head of Chechnya can provide financial support to Arashukov family. But I don't think that this is Arashukov's main aim. Most likely, he wants political protection and a softer sentence."
Ramazan Tlemeshok, the chairman of the public movement "Adyge Khase-Circassian Parliament", does not rule out that Arashukov wants to get Kadyrov's support before writing a petition for pardon.
