Blogger from Bashkiria convicted for video about "Motherland Calls!" monument
The Volgograd Regional Court has sentenced Rasul Akhiyaretdinov, a blogger and a resident of Bashkortostan, to a year of forced labour, finding him guilty of rehabilitating Nazism in his video about the "Motherland Calls!" monument.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the blogger had recorded a video demanding that the "Motherland Calls!" sculpture be "dressed more modestly." He stated that the appearance of the monument did not suit the Muslim and Orthodox clergy of Volgograd. After posting the video, he began receiving threats from social media users, which is why he deleted his pages.
According to the court, on February 6, 2024, the above resident of Bashkortostan, while in the territory of the memorial complex on Mamayev Kurgan, "in a cynical manner that disregarded moral standards, recorded his opinion on video about the appearance of the sculpture "The Motherland Calls!"
"Subsequently, the blogger posted a video on the Internet with negative statements about the image of the monument, which is a symbol of Russia's military glory," the Volgograd Regional Prosecutor's Office reported in its website.
