Kabardino-Balkarian resident fined for discrediting Russian Army

The Prokhladnensky District Court has found the allegations that local resident Viktor Marchuk had spoken in a negative way about the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine proven. The man has been fined 30,000 roubles under the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that policemen who drew up the administrative protocol under the article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces against Viktor Marchuk did not provide a description of the incident or any information about the witnesses, the court concluded and sent the police protocol back for revision.

The decision published on the court’s official website states that Viktor Marchuk “in a public place, publicly, in the presence of other persons from among the village residents, spoke in a negative way about the special military operation of the Russian Federation, the activities of the President of the Russian Federation, government bodies and regional media.”

The court questioned Viktor Marchuk’s neighbours, who claimed that they “witnessed those statements voiced by Viktor Marchuk and convinced him not to behave in such a way.”
